Case Studies in Development Evaluation:

Validity, Generalisation and Learning

 

 

Copenhagen 21-23 May 2012

 

The Evaluation Department of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Centre for Social Science Development Research at Institute of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen wild held a International Workshop, which will focus on methodological and practical considerations when using case studies in evaluations of development. The workshop will be organised in collaboration with the journal Evaluation:the international journal of theory, research and practice.

 

The Organising Committee is still working on the final programme. However, the programme will include sessions/discussions on: 1) Quality and Generalisation, 2) Causality and Complexity, 3) QCA, 4) Uses of Theory, Methods and Quality and 5) Learning from Syntheses. Confirmed speakers include:

 

· David Byrne

· Michael Woolcock

· Rob van den Berg

· Howard White

Note: The workshop will not be able to cover the costs of plane tickets and accommodation for participants.
